July 19th.
Raced bikes today.
I’ve been drinking maybe a little too much coffee.
Like an exponential increase in the amount of coffee I’ve had this week.
I noticed I had developed a bit of a sugar demon.
Which makes sense..
It makes sense and is acceptable when you’re cycling 200+ miles a week and have like 4% body fat.
But it just feels like madness when those miles trickle down to 20 miles a week…
It rained all week…
Not really gonna…
Ride fixed in the wet.
UPS is … maybe holding my wheelset hostage?
It’s fine though.
Everything happens because it does. Besides… it seems the rain is behind us now.
A strange thing happens where … when I move somewhere, some historical meteorological event happens.
When I moved to Tokyo in November 2016
It snowed. The first November snowfall in Tokyo in 50 years.
Not even a week after my arrival.
I’ll be honest.. I’m not really focused on writing this right now.
I needed to show up …
But the drum machine has my attention.
I did inquire about a typewriter last night.
Mulling over the idea with a friend they argued that removing oneself from the internet keeps you from being informed of what’s going on in the world…
Which I mean…
Yeah.
But the going ons in the world…
Have been the same going ons that have been going on since I’ve started going.
Between the keyboard and the keyboard…
What is going on in the world though?
I turned the drum machine off.
Reality is where you direct your attention.
The observer.
So what is going on in the world?
If I’m uninformed of what’s going on in the world…
I’d be much more informed of what goes on in my world.
And I think that’s okay.
I don’t think it’s to say that I’m going to … ignore the greater issues that plague civilization …
But
It seems …
Odd to dedicate a piece of my attention to what’s going on in the world beyond my horizons when in my daily life there are
things that need addressing.
Things that …
To better defeat the greater evils in the world one must first conquer the evils around them.
The good has to spread cell by cell.
Concentrated good.
I saw two very really silly pieces of news this past week.
A Florida women received a new license plate.
SQZ A55.
The news station sent their cameraman, and a JOURNALIST out into the field to interview this woman who was … shocked by the license plate she received.
I thought this was a fucking parody piece.
I hoped it was AI.
I rather it be that I was duped than this being a real story that was reported on, I could live with that…
Because if that’s… the news.
Along with what has always been the going ons…
There isn’t anything new to be informed of…
We’ve always been at war with Oceania.
You find out all you need to know in the world whenever they report the mysterious death of a journalist…
Nobody on the SQZ A55 piece has anything to worry about.
Doubling back though…
What is going on in the world…
I observed the SQZ A55 piece…
Maybe the world I live in is actually so peaceful and silly that…
Said license plate is newsworthy…
And to argue … that … there was something more …
worthy of being reported…
something I expect to reveal to me the true horrors of the world
is discrediting that …
