I exist in a permanent state of deja vu.

I lay in bed last night unable to sleep with the thought that maybe thirty is the furthest I’ve ever made it.

Where does that thought come from?

“Thirty must be the furthest I’ve ever made it.”

Eventually I fall off to sleep.

Only to wake up randomly in the midst of the night.

3:24 AM

I suppose…

I suppose I will just grab my booklight, sit here on the couch and read.

“Chapter 5: Hi-Tech Dreams, Lo-Tech Reality”

The chapter comes to an end and I find myself ready to return to sleep..

I think just long enough to consider the title of the next chapter…

“Chapter 6: Wake Up America, You’re Dead”

hmm

“Thirty must be the furthest I’ve ever made it.”

I dream about riding my bike beneath a gray sky amongst the trees.

A perpetual sprint, one I don’t remember starting, one that I won’t see the end of before waking.

Never do I feel any exhaustion, any fatigue, just an efficient output of sustained power indefinitely.

An odd feeling it is to be beside yourself …

Here I am, sitting with my head in my lap, patiently waiting for my slumber to end.

“Whenever you’re ready…”

I wake up and the scene dissolves…

It takes a moment for me to orient myself in … the plane of existence I was only an observer of not so long ago…

Not an active participant.

The veil seems to have only gotten more thin…

As fragile as rice paper.

Such an odd state.

The day reveals itself over time, though it seems it never planned to disguise itself…

As normal a day can be considering…

An evening bike ride ends with a conversation that seems to … declare the state’s sovereignty

“Honestly, something about avoiding being hit by a car is poetic.”

“You’re not wrong… being in motion it seems to … it’s an artform. Being able to anticipate, react… it’s all so beautiful.”

“It feels like a power to master…”

“Mmm.. I never considered how if it were a power… how it could scale. You’re navigating time and space… it’s motion… you’re … time traveling…”
