Two Extra Biscuits

“Just remember what happens on earth stays on earth, we gon put it in reverse.”

Ahhhh

This is the first thought that runs through my mind when I wake up this morning. So I’m sitting here eating my eggs and my oatmeal (with some peaches sliced atop, a special day) and listening to Duckworth.

DAMN.

It’s June 30th.

I’ll pull a card after I finish these eggs as is the norm.

As this song comes to an end, I realize why it’s on my mind.

All day yesterday, I was thinking about how you can… if you try hard enough somewhat identify all the events that led up to a specific outcome in your life.

Only to a point though…

You should absolutely live in the moment and be present but something about being present allows you to see the timeline play out..

It’s like…

If you’re present in all of the moments leading up to whatever you’re tracing back to…

it makes it easier to weave forward and backwards…

Delineating time.

A day words are failing me.

I finished my eggs this morning and scrambled to get out the door to join a group ride.

I asked Delta to shuffle my cards while I inflated tires and prepped a bidon.

I say bidon now ironically after watching Breaking Away.

With everything gathered and in place, I ask …

“I ought to just pull from the top huh?”

“That works.”

The Tower.

With laughter, I departed.

As the month comes to an end, as the year reaches its halfway point, many loops are closing.

That Kendrick Lamar line echoed in my head the entire day.

Lapping the Veloway…

“Just remember…”

Watching the girls return their library books

“What happens on earth…”

Going through the car wash

“Stays on earth”

We return to our neighborhood and opt to take the scenic route home…

“Is that an eight-six? We gotta turn around…

We gon put in reverse.”

We swing back around and sure enough, there’s a panda corolla sitting along the side of the street.

“Ah who hurt you… or rather… who did you hurt?”

We return home, unload our groceries, and get settled in for the evening…

Suddenly it all clicks.

“I woke up with that Kendrick Lamar line stuck in my head… and then we come across an eight-six… which is…

interesting

because that’s the album that was playing when my eight-six caught fire…”

A day words are failing me…

“Just remember what happens on earth stays on earth, we gon put it in reverse.”
